Sweltering heat continued to haunt people of the Jammu region as day temperature jumped to a high of 40.6 degrees Celsius, 2.4 notches above normal limit.
The city had recorded a high of 37.5 degrees Celsius yesterday, the highest in the past week, the Met office said.
Minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius.
Katra, the base camp for the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Reasi district, was the second hottest place in the region with a high of 36.7 degrees Celsius.
It recorded a low of 23.6 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.
