Team Jammu, an organisation of social activists, sports persons, doctors, journalists, lawyers, educationists and intellectuals, has taken the initiative to get the Jammu rid of the drug menace.
"To create awareness among youth against drug abuse, Team Jammu is going to hold a massive anti-drug rally on November 28 in which youth from all corners of Jammu will participate to contribute in the social cause," Zorawar Singh Jamwal, chairman of Team Jammu, said.
"It is a beginning of our campaign against drug abuse in Jammu. Our priority is to involve as many as youth in the proposed rally to give a message to the society that youth of Jammu are ready to shoulder the responsibility of make this city free from drug abuse," he said.
"A full-fledged survey was being conducted by the Team Jammu in past 8 to 10 months and it came to fore that despite being highly educated and qualified, youth of Jammu are falling prey to drug addiction as there are hardly any job avenues and employment schemes generated by the government," Singh said.
"The survey has revealed the shocking facts that import of drugs like Brown Sugar, Heroin, Charas, Ganja, intoxicant capsules are being pumped into the winter capital by drug mafias, which remains 'unchecked' and being supplied among the youth," Singh said.
The rally will cover each and every market of the 'City of Temples' and will start the rally on Nov 28 at 10 AM outside Royal Estate Banquet, near Toph Sherkhanian Bridge on Akhnoor Road.
