'Glee' star Jane Lynch honoured her late co-star Cory Monteith during an in memoriam segment at the 65th Emmy awards here.
Monteith died in July due to drug overdose.
Lynch praised Monteith's "warmth" and "charm" and said his untimely death at the age of 31 was a reminder of "the rapacious, senseless destruction that is brought on by addiction", reported the Wrap.
The actress said Monteith was "a beautiful soul. He was not perfect, which many of us in this room can relate to."
The other late stars who were remembered in the tribute segment during the Sunday night awards show at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, included 'The Sopranos' star James Gandoflini, 'All in the Family' star Jean Stapleton, Jonathan Winters and producer Gary David Goldberg.
But the inclusion of Monteith's name in the tribute segment also caused controversy.
Adam Klugman, son of deceased 'The Odd Couple' star Jack Klugman, criticized Monteith's inclusion while his father's name was left unmentioned.
Klugman objected to "celebrating this self-inflicted tragedy instead of celebrating the life of my father, who won three Emmys... Cory Monteith never won an Emmy."
Monteith's mother, Ann McGregor criticised Klugman, saying he was "misdirected" in his comments.
