Hiramatsu, who was accompanied by his wife and some officials, interacted with Super 30 founder and mathematician Anand Kumar apart from its students.
"In Japan, Super 30 is quite popular and I am really impressed to see the kind of work Kumar is doing to help students from poor families reach IIT," the Ambassador said adding he was here to see as to how the coaching institute was run and achieved phenomenal success.
The Ambassador said Japan also had a programme to help talented students from poor families to get the best of technical education in Japan and scholarships were also available for that.
He said the University of Tokyo has already invited students from Super 30 for higher technical education, he said.
Kumar thanked the Ambassador and said his visit would further boost his morale.
