Hisar Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Aggarwal today met the office bearers of the Akhil Bhartiya Jat Sangharsh Samiti at the village and asked them to withdraw their agitation.
Stating that the demands of Jats would be considered by the Haryana government "sympathetically", Aggarwal offered juice to four members of the Samiti who were on fast-unto- death since March 7.
Aggarwal said Principal OSD to Chief Minister, M S Chopra had met office bearers of the Samiti in Jind yesterday where the activists had pointed out discrepancies in the recently given reservation to Jats by the state government.
However, the Samiti members were apprehensive about implementing the quota as with the additional 10 per cent reservation, the permissible limit of 50 per cent on quota would be exceeded.
To this, the representatives of the government said before giving reservation, a survey was conducted in the state after constituting Backward Classes Commission.
The representatives of the government said if the Samiti found any discrepancy in the notification, they could write to the state government and a meeting of the representatives of the Samiti could be held with legal experts.
Agarwal said the High Court was also monitoring these cases.
In this regard, the representatives of the Samiti could write to the state government and it could be considered after taking legal opinion, he said.
