Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar today laid foundation stone of a government medical college and hospital, to be built at a cost of Rs 177.5 crore, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, he took potshots at senior Congress leader Kamal Nath for not using his MP funds for development of the constituency.
"People have seen the Member of Parliament Kamal Nath but not the MP's funds meant for development," Javadekar said during the program, also attended by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
"Some hundred and forty development works have been initiated in Chhindwara district from the Rs five crore I gave from my MP funds," Javadekar, a Rajya Sabha member, said.
As many as 28 community halls would be built at a cost of Rs 5.6 crore in all tehsils of the district, he said.
BJP is trying very hard to unseat Kamal Nath, a former Union minister, from his bastion of Chhindwara. Nath has been representing the constituency since 1980 barring one time in 1990s when he lost.
Chouhan said the medical college and hospital would be very useful for the district which doesn't have adequate treatment facilities. The college and hospital will be ready by November 2018, the chief minister said.
