The Delhi High Court today asked the AIIMS Director to constitute a medical board and submit a report on the health condition of Ajay Chautala who has been sentenced to 10 years prison term along with his father and former Haryana Chief Minister O P Chautala in teachers recruitment scam case.
Justice Siddharth Mridul also extended the interim bail granted to Ajay Chautala till January 12, 2015, by when the report of the medical board, including their opinion in the matter, shall be communicated to the court in a sealed cover.
"After hearing counsel for the parties, it is considered appropriate to appoint a medical board of doctors to get an independent assessment of the current medical condition of the applicant.
"Director All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIM) is directed to constitute a Board of eminent doctors who are specialised in their requisite fields and subject to examine the applicant," the court said.
The court further said the medical board shall furnish a report opining on the all medical condition of Ajay Chautala with particular emphasis on the advisability and necessity to keep him hospitalised.
Ajay Chautala is on bail since August 12, 2013 on medical grounds.
Ajay Chautala, his 78-year-old father and chief of INLD and 53 others are serving varying jail terms in a teachers' recruitment scam in the year 2000.
Ajay, like his father, has been advised either to undergo the pacemaker implant surgery or other medical procedures for treatment of his cardiac disease.
O P Chautala had surrendered at Tihar jail on October 11 after the high court cancelled his interim bail on October 10 for flouting bail conditions by campaigning for his party.
On July 11, the high court had reserved its verdict on the appeals of 55 convicts, including Chautala and his son Ajay, in the case.
