Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) today said it would be forced to call for a Jammu Bandh on Saturday if the people of Kashmir did not come forward for an intra-regional dialogue by Friday.
"If by Friday Chamber does not get a positive message from people of Kashmir for intra-region discussions with the people of Jammu and Ladakh, JCCI shall be left with no option but to call for a Jammu Bandh on Saturday against the agenda of the anti-national elements in the state, and in support of peace and communal harmony," President, JCCI, Rakesh Gupta said.
After consulting all business, industry and transport representatives, it was unanimously decided to give a deadline to the people of Kashmir for intra-region discussions with the people of Jammu and Ladakh as they do not support the way of protest chosen by them which was leading the people towards the path of "self destruction" not "self determination", he said.
He said the dialogue will be followed by a joint delegation of representatives from three regions of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh calling on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti with a charter of demands if any for consideration and necessary action as the Chamber reposes full faith in "our democratically elected Chief Minister".
Gupta claimed many people from the civil society in Kashmir have approached them to intervene and break the deadlock and help the situation in Kashmir back to normalcy as they cannot speak or do anything but to sit as prisoners in their homes "because of the fear and threat of guns from anti-nationals".
