JD(U) MP Ali Anwar Ansari has sought a CBI investigation into the alleged procurement scam in AIIMS Trauma Centre.
In a letter to Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Ansari has demanded a thorough probe into the alleged scams at the Trauma Centre unearthed recently by the vigilance department.
"Recently, a major scam was detected in the Trauma Centre where even cleaning materials were declared as propriety items and the supply was placed from blood relatives of the store officer.
"This purchase had approval of the highest authorities of Trauma Centre including the present chief. In this regard, a very serious and significant development is brought to your kind notice for immediate action," Ansari said in his letter dated September 18.
The MP said according to a Delhi High Court order, the AIIMS director cannot hold dual charge, but the present director was flouting norms by holding two posts - Director and Chief of Trauma Centre, AIIMS -- simultaneously.
"However, flouting the said decision, the present Director is holding the dual charge of Director, AIIMS and Chief Trauma Centre. In light of the above mentioned corruption scams, the blatant illegality raises serious question mark on the transparency in the working of administration," the Rajya Sabha MP said.
