Jeera futures climb 2.83% on spot demand

Jeera prices spurted by 2.83 per cent to Rs 14,530 per quintal in futures trade today as participants created fresh positions, driven by upsurge in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March month climbed by Rs 400, or 2.83 per cent to Rs 14,530 per quintal with an open interest of 4,224 lots.
On similar lines, the spice for delivery in far-month April traded higher by Rs 400, or 2.82 per cent to Rs 14,560 per quintal in 7,323 lots.
Marketmen said fresh positions built up by traders on the back of pick up in demand in the spot market and some export enquiries mainly pushed up jeera prices at futures trade.
