Jeera prices dropped by 2.59 per cent to Rs 18,830 per quintal in futures market today as traders trimmed their positions, taking negative cues from spot market on tepid demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in August month fell by Rs 500, or 2.59 per cent to Rs 18,830 per quintal with an open interest of 5,640 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in far-month September traded lower by Rs 500, or 2.54 per cent to Rs 19,220 per quintal in 19,854 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants owing to slackened demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
