Jeera prices declined by 1.11 per cent to Rs 16,960 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators reduced their exposure, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in far-month June fell by Rs 190, or 1.11 per cent to Rs 16,960 per quintal with an open interest of 17,505 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in May traded lower by Rs 185, or 1.09 per cent to Rs 16,790 per quintal in 6,219 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders, driven by subdued demand in the spot market against ample stocks position led to the fall in jeera prices at futures trade.
