Jeera prices dropped 2.08 per cent to Rs 15,995 per quintal in futures trade today as participants trimmed their positions, triggered by sufficient stocks position at the spot market on higher supplies from producing belts.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May plunged by Rs 340, or 2.08 per cent, to Rs 15,995 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,708 lots.
On similar lines, the spice for delivery in April was trading lower by Rs 245, or 1.52 per cent, to Rs 15,900 per quintal in 906 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders, triggered by adequate stocks positions in the physical market on higher supplies from producing regions kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
