Jeevan, Sanam, Balaji make semis of Chennai ITF event

Second seed Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan sent seventh seed Andre Gaspar Murta in straight sets while N Sriram Balaji had to work hard to beat compatriot Ramkumar Ramanathan to advance to the semifinals of the USD 10,000 ITF Futures tournament, here today.
Left-handed Jeevan defeated his opponent from Portugal 6-2 6-3 while Balaji edged past Ramkumar 6-4 3-6 6-3 in a tough quarterfinal contest.
In other last-eight contests, India's third seed Sanam Singh knocked out compatriot Vijayant Malik 6-4 6-4 while top seed top seed Spaniard Enrique Lopez-Perez ousted Indian's eighth seed Ranjeet Virali Murugesan 6-2 7-6(6) 6-4 in another gruelling match.
Sanam will now clash with Jeevan while Balaji will fight it out with Enrique.
The doubles final will be between top seeded pair of Balaji and Ranjeet and second seeds Jeevan and Vishnu Vardhan.
