Two lakh rupees in cash besides jewellery worth nearly Rs 13 lakh were allegedly looted today from a house in Lajpat Nagar here, police said.
The burglars sneaked into the house of Suresh Chandra Agrawal during the night and robbed off the cash and jewellery while the family was asleep in one of the rooms, police said.
"It is not dacoity, but a case of burglary. The burglars managed to enter a room in the house by cutting iron window, and had stolen two lakh rupees in cash along with ornaments worth about 13 lakh," said deputy superintendent of police R K Gautam.
"We hope to nab the culprits soon as footage has been received and the fingerprints also taken," he said adding further probe in underway.
"The family members were sleeping in a side-room when the incident took place and came to know of it only in the morning," said Agrawal, the complainant.
