Sudhanshu Suman, chairman of a Ranchi-based newspaper, joined the BJP on Friday in the presence of the party's working president J P Nadda and other senior leaders.
BJP media head and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni said the induction of Suman, chairman of Ranchi Express, will strengthen the party in Jharkhand.
The state is going to the assembly polls later this year.
The BJP is in power in the state.
