Jharkhand Police today reviewed security preparations for the second phase of the three-phase parliamentary polls slated for April 17.
Accompanied by Zonal Inspector General M S Bhatia, state Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar reviewed various aspects regarding the security for elections, particularly in Naxal-stronghold Saranda.
"We are ready to conduct the elections free and fair in all the six parliamentary constituencies where polling is scheduled on April 17," Kumar told reporters here.
Adequate security arrangements would be in place to inculcate confidence among the electorates, he said urging people to take part in the electoral process without any fear.
"We will deploy adequate force including para-military personnel and District Armed Police to ensure a peaceful polling including in Naxal-affected Saranda forest," he said.
Referring to recent Naxal attacks, he said the security personnel have been asked to keep vigil and plug loopholes to maintain law and order.
He said the security personnel have been launching anti-Naxal operations continuously for the last three months and many Naxals were arrested and explosives seized during the period.
Six constituencies where polling is slated for April 17 are Giridih, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Singhbhum, Khunti and Hazaribagh.
