Jharkhand government today decided to introduce prizes in the fields of literature, media and good governance after former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
According to an official release, the prizes will be given to upcoming poet in literary area, a prominent journalist in media and an official for best performance.
The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das, the release said.
The Cabinet also decided to set up Atal Bihari Vajpayee memorial Park and erecting statues of Vajpayee and tribal icon in the premises of Jharkhand Assembly.
The former prime minister passed away on August 16.
Raghubar Das has on several occasions said that Jharkhand is indebted to the former prime minister for its coming into existence in 2000 after bifurcation of Bihar when Vajpayee was heading NDA government at the centre.
