The 35-year-old accused identified as Sardara Singh knew the girl's family since five years. He went to her house yesterday and pressurised her to elope with him but she resisted, they said.
He attacked the girl and hit her near throat with a sickle and also slit his throat with the same tool.
They were rushed to a nearby hospital where the man was declared dead and the girl is under treatment, said police.
