"I am hosting the #Emmys on Sunday Sept 18," the 48-year-old TV host tweeted to his followers confirming the announcement.

Kimmel follows previous Emmys hosts Andy Samberg (2015), Seth Meyers (2014) and Neil Patrick Harris (2013).
This year's ceremony will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
