Jind resident dies of swine flu in Haryana

Swine flu today claimed the first life in Haryana with the death of Jind resident at a private hospital in Gurgaon, while six others have been found positive in the state, a senior Health Department official said.
"A resident of Jind district, who was admitted to Medanta hospital in Gurgaon has died because of swine flu," an official release issued by Haryana Health department said here.
The victim was among the seven persons who have been tested positive for the H1N1 virus.
"There were seven swine flu positive cases in Haryana. Two from Faridabad, four from Gurgaon and one death case has been reported from Jind," said the release.
There were reports that a patient belonging to Haryana had died of swine flu, but it was later found that he belonged to Preet vihar area in Delhi, it said.
Meanwhile, Haryana Health Department said they were fully geared for surveillance, prevention, identification, testing, isolation and treatment of case of H1N1.
The department has issued instructions to all the Civil Surgeons for the management of Swine flu.
A meeting was held here today under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Ram Niwas to review the preparedness of the Heath Department for swine flu.
He said the swine flu (H1N1) has been declared as the seasonal influenza and the Health Department has taken all the necessary steps about the preparedness in dealing with it.
The Civil Surgeons have been directed to keep a close vigil on the patients with symptoms of swine flu and also advise the clinicians to consider the possibility of H1N1 infection in persons presenting with respiratory illness requiring hospitalisation.
He said the districts are ready for quick response in identification, testing, isolation, treatment of cases of swine flu. Districts are reporting daily about H1N1 and also daily reporting is being done from the state to Government of India.
Adequate stock of Tamiflu would be ensured at all times, he said.
