JIPMER introduces patient-friendly information system using

Centrally sponsored JIPMER here has introduced a patient friendly hospital information system making use of the SMS mode in mobile phones of those seeking health care services at the premier medical institution.
Director of JIPMER S C Parija who launched "Smart Update of patient status" through the Hospital Information Service Unit today said this facility was aimed at providing information to the patients specifically from rural pockets in Puducherry and neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
He said that patients would be kept updated with the vital information through SMS relating to their latest visit to the hospital or previous admission in the institution.

Patients who lost their hospital case sheet for could also retrieve the details of the case sheet as the hospital sends on SMS to the patient to their registered mobile number details of case sheet number immediately after registration.
Patients can get in the event of their losing the case sheets its duplicate copy from the registration counter at the hospital.
The SMS mode of information sharing will also be of help for the patients to get updated information about the status of the laboratory investigations.
