'JIPMER offers free of cost high end investigations to poor

: The Centrally sponsored JIPMER in Puducherry offers high end investigations to the poor and have-nots seeking its services free of cost, institute Director Dr S C Parija here today.
Inaugurating a one day Continuing Medical Education programme on neuro radiology' in JIPMER, he said radiological investigations in the institute are highly refined and poor patients are offered high end investigations free of cost.
Parija said radiological investigations are highly important in diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and specially the neuroimaging to rule out infectious diseases like TB.
The one day CME programme was intendedto disseminate knowledge and skill in this 'advancing sub speciality'.

Dean (Academic) in JIPMER R P Swaminathan said JIPMER would soon start a post doctoral fellowship course in stroke management and advanced imaging' and also a post graduate course in 'interventional radiology'.
Medical Superintendent J Balachander said technology had developed tremendously in neuro imaging and availability of BOLD (Blood Oxygen Level Dependent)is a method used in functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to observe different areas of the brain and other organs.
Professor of Neurology Sunil Narayan highlighted the growth of neuro imaging in the last two decades in diagnostic and therapeutic aspects .
