The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today urged Governor N N Vohra to implement the agreement reached after the Amarnath land row agitation in 2008.

JKNPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh hit out at the PDP-BJP coalition, alleging that the "unholy combine" announced amnesty for anti-nationals elements but remained callous towards the patriotic youth from Jammu who were detained during the struggle and were still facing trial.

Better late than never If the promises made in 2008 are fulfilled in 2018, it will be remembered as a significant initiative by the governor to end bias against the highly-marginalised Jammu region, he told reporters.

Singh asked Vohra to implement the pact so that the youths were relieved of the cases pending against them, traders and businessmen were compensated for their losses and victims of the agitation were given justice with dignity and honour.

Singh expressed dismay that the agreement signed between the Sri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti (SASS) and the advisor to then governor had not been implemented so far and attributed it to the "failure" of both the NC-Congress and the BJP-PDP coalition governments.
