Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) today held anti-Pakistan protests and burnt effigies over loss of lives in shelling by the neighbouring country along the Line of Control.
Led by party's leader Charanjeet Singh Chicku, over 200 JKPYC activists today raised slogans against Pakistan, burnt effigies at Press Club Jammu and expressed hope that a normalcy will soon be restored along LOC.
Chicku, meanwhile, criticised the Centre and the state government for "failing" to keep pre poll promises, including an improved security scenario in the state, stopping ceasefire violation and safety to the people residing in border areas.
"BJP-PDP government has lost the moral ground to remain in power, as this party has failed to keep the pre poll promises made with people," he said.
"Due to the weak policies of BJP, Pakistan is causing heavy loss to the people and property. There is an abrupt rise in militant activities due to the failure of BJP government", he said.
Chicku condemned the heavy firing by Pak and described the act of Pakistan as "cowardice" besides demanding that a befitting reply should be given to the neighbouring country.
He further demanded a compensation of 10 lakh for the victims and a job for the youth who got injured in the firing and urged the government to dispense the relief as soon as possible.
