Jodhpur circle of ASI inaugurated

Jodhpur circle of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) was inaugurated here today by Union Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch.
This is the second circle and will have jurisdiction over 12 districts of the state.
"Till now, entire state was governed by the only office at Jaipur and this decentralisation of Jaipur circle will help in better upkeep of the heritage structures and monuments of the state," Katoch said.
There are 162 monuments in the state. Six monuments come in the list of World Heritage Monuments of which Chittorgarh Fort, Kumbhalgarh Fort and Jaisalmer Fort come under the Jodhpur circle, she said.
