"Dukes of Hazzard" star John Schneider, who was sentenced to jail for defaulting the payment of spousal support to his estranged wife, was released barely hours after the sentencing began due to California's overcrowded prison.
The 58-year-old actor was handed over the punishment of spending three days in LA County jail by the judge for failing to pay delinquent alimony he owed to Elvira.
Schneider was arrested at 10.24 a.m. yesterday but was set free at 3.46 p.m, People magazine reported.
He had Schneider had to pay up over USD 150,000 till March.
The actor also has to do 240 hours of community service.
The former couple married on July 11, 1993.
Elvira (nee Castle) filed for divorce from Schneider on December 12, 2014.
They have three children Leah, Chasen and Karis together.
