Shivdayal Pandey was attacked by some persons when he came out of his house, in which he was seriously injured, police said.
An FIR has been lodged in this connection against 13 persons and attempts were on to nab them.
Police said Pandey had recently written a story in his newspaper regarding an alleged criminal after which the accused was booked.
