JSW announces Rs 5 lakh for CWG gold medallists

As many as eight athletes mentored by JSW Sports Excellence Program won medals at the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games, and to recognise their efforts, the corporate house today announced a prize money of Rs. 5 lakh for the gold medallists.
While the silver medallists will be richer by 2.5 lakhs, and the bronze medal winners will bag 1.25 lakhs each.
In all 12 athletes, who are supported by JSW, had made it to the Commonwealth Games contingent, and eight of them returned with medals, which included three gold, as many silver and two bronze.
Parth Jindal, Director of JSW Sports said, "We have decided to honour our gold medallists by giving them a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh. To the silver medal winners, we will give 2.5 lakhs and 1.25 lakhs for bronze medallists.
"We are extremely proud of our athletes who have proved that India has the potential and will keep producing world class athletes if they are given the right backing and support. Our athletes are already reaping benefits of world-class facilities and their performance is proof enough."
JSW today honoured seven wrestlers -- Amit Kumar (gold, Men's 57kg), Babita Kumari (gold, Women's 55kg), Vinesh Phogat (gold, Women's 48kg), Bajrang (silver, Men's 61kg), Sakshi Kumar (silver, Women's 58kg), Navjot Kaur (bronze, Women's 69kg) and Pawan Kumar (bronze, Men's 86kg) -- and a judo player, Sushila (silver, women's 48kg) for their achievement at the Glasgow Games.
Wrestler Amit Kumar said, "We didn't have to worry about anything apart from doing well once on the mat. Knowing that everything is taken care of lets an athlete put his all into training and the event and that is exactly what happened at Glasgow. We now have our sights set on the upcoming Asian Games in Korea," said Amit Kumar.
