Jharkhand State Women's Commission (JSWC) Chairperson Mahua Manjhi today said she will not resign from the post on moral ground after the change of government in the state as she had been nominated for three years.
Manjhi, who was nominated as JSWC Chairperson by the previous government led by Hemant Soren, said she was appointed for a three-year term and did not have any plan to quit after the NDA defeated the Soren-led coalition and formed ministry.
She said this when asked whether she will put in her papers following the defeat of Soren-led UPA government.
Manjhi, who had contested unsuccessfully on JMM ticket from Ranchi in the Assembly poll, said there is neither any tradition of resigning from the JSWC top post after change of guard nor has there been any provision to remove her.
There will be no impact on the performance of JSWC irrespective of whichever government was in power, she said.
She emphasized on the need for creating opportunities for employment for women to check trafficking and migration due to poverty.
Manjhi expressed confidence that human trafficking, sexual exploitation, migration, abduction of children by naxal outfits would be checked following the setting up of 14 trafficking centres in the state recently.
She also demanded appointment of a lady doctor in all the jails of the state.
