Any comments in Pakistan alleging that the Narendra Modi government was behind the terrorist attack on Karachi airport would not affect India or sour the cordial relations between the two countries, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said today.
He was responding to allegations by Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed on microblogging site 'twitter.Com' that "Modi's new security team" was behind the attack on the Jinnah International airport in Karachi.
At least 30 people, including 10 terrorists, were killed before security forces today eventually regained control over the key facility in Pakistan's financial capital.
Responding to questions by reporters on whether the comments by Saeed might disturb the atmosphere of the country and sour the ties with Pakistan, Singh said that would not be the case.
He said that there might be some forces which may not have liked the recent meeting between the Indian Prime Minister and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif when he visited India to attend the swearing in ceremony of Modi and were hence making such comments.
"There might be some forces which may not have liked this (meeting) and the possibility (of their indulging in such comments to undermine the ties between the two countries) cannot be ignored," Singh said, adding that India wants to maintain cordial relations with its neighbours.
