Judicial panel on chit fund submits interim report
Press Trust of India Bhubaneswar The judicial commission probing the chit fund scam in Odisha today submitted its interim report to the state government recommending steps to protect small investors.
The secretary of the Justice M M Das-headed judicial panel, Debraj Rout, handed over the commission's report to home secretary Asit Tripathy here this afternoon.
The commission's interim report was prepared on the basis of 26,976 affidavits out of the more than 8 lakh affidavits filed with it, sources said.
The state government on July 9, 2013, formed a one-man commission headed by retired judge of Orissa High Court Justice RK Patra to probe the chit fund scam.
However, after the death of Justice Patra, the state government on February 5, 2015, appointed retired Judge of Orissa High Court Justice M M Das as the head of the judicial panel.
