The Bihar Judicial Services Association today strongly condemned attack on a judge in a running train and demanded adequate security for Judicial Officers of the state.
The Association demanded the state government to take preventive measures by providing bodyguards to all male and female judicial officers irrespective of rank.
Two persons were arrested yesterday evening in the case and they have been forwarded to jail.
It may be noted that a Sub-Judge Prashant Kumar Jha, who was posted as Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate at Pupri sub-divisional court of Sitamarhi district, was attacked and badly injured by some people in a moving train in the evening of Monday last.
The attack took place when the Judge was on his way to Patna from Gaya after completing some personal work.
"I strongly condemn such action and the security of Judicial Officers of the state should be area of concern for the state government. I had earlier given a representation to Home Secretary and DGP to provide bodyguards to all judges of state irrespective of rank but despite the report of DGP having been submitted to Home Secretary the final decision in that matter is yet to be taken by Home Secretary," BJSA Secretary Ajit Kumar Singh said.
Singh, who is a Sub-Judge at Jamui civil court, said that though the two assailants have been arrested on the basis of video footage of the incident recorded by one of the co passengers but this is not sufficient to assuage the feelings of judicial officers.
"There is a need to take preventive measures by the state government in providing bodyguards to all male and female judicial officers irrespective of their rank," he said
