Continuing their protests against the National Medical Commission (NMC) bill, junior doctors at different state-run hospitals in Telangana boycotted emergency services for the second day Friday.
The indefinite fast started by some junior doctors at the state-run Gandhi hospital entered the second day, the protesting junior doctors said.
Emergency services continued to be boycotted at the state-run Gandhi, Osmania and other hospitals, they said.
An indefinite fast would be launched at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) also, they said.
About 1,000 junior doctors from different hospitals gathered at the OGH Friday and took out a protest rally.
Alleging that the NMC bill sounded "death to modern medicine", the protesters demanded that the bill be taken back.
The junior doctors, who began their protests more than a week ago against the NMC bill, started boycotting emergency services at Gandhi, Osmania and other state-run medical college hospitals from 2 PM Thursday.
The Rajya Sabha had on Thursday passed the National Medical Commission Bill for replacing the Medical Council of India with a new body.
