Scindia also alleged that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj who currently represents Vidisha seat, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan did nothing for development of the region.
"Vidisha Lok Sabha seat was earlier represented by Vajpayee, Chouhan and is currently represented by Swaraj. However, this region remained backward and in last many years not a single big industry has been set up in the area," Scindia said.
The scion of Scindia clan, who also heads Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections campaign committee, was addressing a Congress rally here.
Addressing the rally, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kamal Nath alleged that under BJP rule mining mafia has become emboldened to the extent they "totally emptied the river bed of Narmada river and Chambal by illegally excavating sand".
Taking a dig at Chouhan, Nath said the Chief Minister was a "champion of announcements". "During last five years, he (Chouhan) has made 7,000 announcements out of which the fate of 6,000 is not yet known," he said.
Congress general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Prakash, state unit president Kantilal Bhuria and former Union minister Suresh Pachouri also spoke.
A similar rally was addressed by Congress leaders in Betul.
