The Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ), independent India's first trade union of media persons, today re elected K Vikram Rao as its president for the period of 2016-18.
K Vikram Rao, who worked with The Times of India earlier, was elected unopposed, IFWJ's central returning officers Debashish Bose and Upendra Padhi announced here today after scrutinising the presidential nominations in which 18 out of a total of 25 constituent unions had filed the nomination papers in his support.
They included Manipur, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Bihar among others.
The returning officers said the process of elections of 250 national councilors had begun and the nationwide poll process will be completed by October.
The new working committee will be elected by these national councillors at the 30th plenary session in Bengaluru by this year end, the IFWJ statement said.
