DMK Chief M Karunanidhi has been advised rest and will not meet people as he has been asked to remain cautious against contracting any infection following his discharge from a private hospital here, the party said today.
"Although Kalaignar (Karunanidhi) has returned from Kauvery Hospital after receiving treatment for the past few days, doctors have advised he should take rest for a few more days and that he be careful and cautious against contracting any infection till then," the party said in a statement.
Therefore, DMK workers and Karunanidhi's friends have been advised not to pay a visit to the the 93 year-old leader, it said and sought cooperation from them in this regard.
Karunanidhi was yesterday discharged from Kauvery hospital here after a week-long treatment for nutritional and hydration support.
The former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was admitted there on December 1 after being treated at home for a drug-induced allergy.
"After medical treatment, he has improved substantially and was discharged from the hospital today," Kauvery Hospital Executive Director Dr S Aravindan had said on Wednesday.
He had said that the hospital will continue to assess and provide necessary medical and nursing care to facilitate the DMK chief's recuperation at home.
The drug-induced allergy has virtually kept Karunanidhi out of public activities for the past one month.
