With water from Mettur Dam yet to be released, farmers in the Delta regions of Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Tiruchirappalli were not sure about the fate of the short-term kuruvai crop, he said.
"Water should have been released from June 12 but it is July and the dam is yet to be opened. The farmers are shedding tears," he said in a letter to partymen.
Referring to the power load shedding, he said no one was sure of proper power supply. "Is the government in the state functioning? Or is it taking rest at Kodanadu," he said in reference to Jayalalithaa's stay in the hill station in Nilgiris District.
She had left for Kodanadu recently and the government had said she would perform her duties from there.
