Walliams's book 'The Boy in the Dress' is being adapted to television for the Christmas period, following his BAFTA-nominated Mr Stink.
The story follows a 12-year-old boy who enjoys cross-dressing, and how his family and friends react to it at home and school.
Billy Kennedy will make his debut as main character Dennis, while Tim McInnerny, Meera Syal, Steve Speirs, James Buckley and Felicity Montagu will also star, alongside Walliams himself.
The one-hour special will be filmed in London later in the autumn by King Bert Productions and BBC In-house Comedy.
