Actress Katrina Kaif and her "Fitoor" co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor stunned as showstoppers for celebrity designer Tarun Tahiliani's Spring Summer collection showcased here.
Walking the ramp of "Looking for Love" by Chromatics, Katrina, 32, was nothing less than an angelic beauty in a pearl white saree gown with Aditya complementing her in an elegant sherwani from Tahiliani's line inspired by Kutch desert tribes.
"Tarun is the first designer I worked with. We share a very long and great relationship. He is very special. I was his campaign girl.
"We have really great memories together and it's nice to walk the ramp for him. After so many years we are back together. We all admire Tarun's work.
"His excellence, his details, the habit of not giving up. He is amazing," the 'Bang Bang' actress said.
Combining delicacy and flair, the handcrafted collection by the designer was all about fantasy and romance.
The colour palette was dominated by shades of black, beige, maroon, orange, magenta, pink and white and Tahiliani kept the comfort quotient high with usage of light-weight crinkle fabric, shiffon, georgette and crepe.
"I have always been inspired by the way the royals of India dress up. But with this collection I wanted to present a contemporary take on the drapes, lehengas, sarees, anarkalis.
"I wanted to present contemporary voice of India. I wanted to keep it light and easy," Tahiliani said.
The collection which had everything from a gown, to dress, to saree gown, to suits had designer's signature Swarovski usage.
The influence of Kutch could be seen in the borders of capes and scarves and also in the waist bands.
Apart from plain silhouettes, the line also had significant usage of texture and lines.
What made the 2016 collection stand out were the attached dupattas.
The collection had a bohemian feel, that was clearly visible in the clever mix of couture and craftsmanship with inventive embellishments and digital prints.
