Fire destroy 80 huts at Baddi

A fire today destroyed around 80 jhuggis (huts) of labourers in the industrial township of Baddi in Solan district, about 110 km from here.
Most of the workers were away for work and only children and aged persons were in the huts when the tragedy struck. But there was no loss of life but loss to property was estimated at Rs 5-lakh, police said.
The cause of fire was not known, they said.
The fire broke out near the barrier on Himachal- Haryana border and engulfed the cluster of Jhuggis within no time but fire brigade fought the flames for two hours and brought the fire under control, they added.
