A 45-year-old Kawad pilgrim died due to heart failure, police said today.
Vimla Devi, 45, who was carrying holy water from the Ganga river, was on her way to Pura Mahadev when she collapsed last evening, they said.
She was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead, they added.
Meanwhile, district authorities imposed a traffic diversion plan for the smooth conduct of the Kawad Yatra.
District Magistrate Rajive Sharma told reporters today that traffic from Delhi to Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar was shifted to alternative routes from the highway.
He said CCTV cameras had been installed along sensitive areas and heavy police force deployed along the pilgrimage routes.
The pilgrimage started from July 28 and would be concluded on August 9.
