The episode, which aired on Sony TV on September 2 last got 6,798,000 impressions in terms of Television Rating Points (TRPs), leaving all others behind, Shashi Shekhar, a senior official of KBC production team.
"It has been ranked the top programme in terms of TRP rating for both fictional and non-fictional category for the 36th week on the basis of the average rating across all original airings during the period," Shekhar said.
He was accompanied by his former student Anup Kumar, who is now associated with IIT.
Bachchan also thanked a post from one of his fan accounts, which tweeted, "Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings: Week 36 (2017); KBC soars up to 1 slot. The magic of @Bachchan continues."
The "Sarkar 3" actor replied saying, "Oh. Did not realise this. Thank your world."
In a statement from Super 30, Anand thanked the audience for an overwhelming response.
"It was very exciting to be on the hot seat in front of such a megastar. I thank KBC snd Amitabh Bachchan for the opportunity, which I will treasure forever," the statement read.
Started in 2002, over 400 students from Super 30 have made it to different IITs so far.
