Instructions in this regard were issued by Punjab Transport Commissioner Ashwani Kumar Sharma, said an official release.
The Transport Commissioner said it has come to the notice of the department that the owners of stage carriage buses/mini buses and their drivers don't keep original documents like permit, RC, insurance, driving licence, conductor licence, time table and tax receipt and they are often without uniform.
At the time of checking by enforcement staff, the drivers give the plea that original documents were lying in the office of company whereas in accordance with the rules, these documents must compulsorily be kept with themselves while driving.
He also instructed District Transport Officers to conduct regular checks to ensure implementation of the Motor Vehicles Act.
