A day after the Delhi High Court sought details from the AAP government of money spent on advertisements, Congress today charged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of indulging in "self-publicity" at the cost of public money.
"The Chief Minister is misusing government funds for self-publicity. We hope that Delhi High Court will take cognisance of this and ban misuse of public funds," AICC chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said here.
He was responding to a question on the Delhi High Court yesterday expressing concern over "blatant" violation of the Supreme Court guidelines by the AAP government while seeking details of the money spent on advertisements allegedly glorifying Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath also sought details from Delhi government on advertisements issued by them in other states apart from the national capital after the Supreme Court ruling that taxpayers' money cannot be spent to build the image of political leaders.
"It is injustice to the people...Kejriwal does everything else but run the government," Surjewala said.
