AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal today set off for the Ramlila grounds where he will take oath as the eighth Chief Minister of Delhi along with six cabinet ministers.
Unlike last time, when he took a metro to travel to the venue, he drove in a car along with his family from his residence in Ghaziabad. A cavalcade which included his ministerial colleagues and party office bearers accompanied him.
The historic Ramlila ground was all decked up for the ceremony where Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung will administer the oath of office to Kejriwal and six others.
Around 3,000 security personnel drawn from Delhi Police, ITBP, CRPF, CISF and SSB have been deployed at the venue. Delhi Police's Security Wing will secure the stage
A total of 76 CCTV cameras have been installed at the venue and around its periphery to secure the place. Two monitoring units have been set up, with one taking care of 51 cameras while the other tracking the rest 25.
Door frame metal detectors have been installed in and around the ground, while "60 baggage scanners" have been put in for the first time to further strengthen the security cover.
12 LCD screens have also been put in place at the venue.
A Home Ministry statement yesterday had said the President appointed Kejriwal as the Chief Minister of Delhi with effect from the date he is sworn in.
"The President, on the advise of the Chief Minister, has also appointed Manish Sisodia, Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitender Singh Tomar as ministers of Delhi," the statement had said.
