According to the Public Works Department (PWD), opening of the three loops will reduce traffic congestion to a great extent in several areas of south Delhi.
The Chief Minister will open these loops on Barapullah flyover on Sunday. These loops were thrown open to public a few days back as part of trial run, PWD Minister Satyendar Jain said.
The main loop is the one which starts from Sidharth Nagar and motorists coming from Ashram Chowk can use it to go towards Aurbindo Marg and avoid the Ring Road.
Residents of several areas including Maharani Bagh, Sidhartha Nagar, Friends Colony and Sarita Vihar will benefit due to the opening of these loops. Motorists coming from Noida don't need to use the congested Ring Road to go to south Delhi and instead can use the signal-free corridor.
The Ring Road stretch from Gurudwara Bala Sahib to Sarai Kale Khan has also been decongested.
PWD has constructed another loop for buses going inside the ISBT at Sarai Kale Khan so that they can directly go in the bus stand. With this, the Ring Road stretch near Sarai Kale Khan will be decongested.
Another small ramp near Jangpura will facilitate the traffic coming from INA or JLN Stadium and going towards CGO complex, Lodhi road and ITO. Traffic coming from INA will go directly to CGO complex via Lala Lajpat Nagar Marg through this loop and Lodhi Road and Aurbindo Marg will be decongested because of this.
According to the Public Works Department completion of construction of Barapullah Flyover is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
