"Cosmic Hallelujah" has debuted at the top of Billboard's Top Country Albums countdown two days after rapper Jeezy narrowly beat the singer to the top of the mainstream chart by just hundreds of sales.
Chesney now ties Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson for fifth place among acts with the most number ones. George Strait leads with 26, followed by Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, who have 16 apiece, and Tim McGraw with 15 chart-toppers.
The country star is on a high at the moment after picking up the President's Award at the 64th Annual BMI Country Awards and the coveted Pinnacle Award at the 50th annual Country Music Association Awards last week.
