Malaysia's chicken-based restaurant chain Kenny Rogers Roasters will open its first outlet in India later this month and is aiming to take the overall count to up to 50 in the next five years, while it has set a revenue target of Rs 200 crore by 2021.

It will open its first restaurant in the Gardens Galleria Mall, Noida on October 21.

"We are eyeing a Rs 200-crore turnover from the Indian market by 2021 as we expand our footprint here. We are looking at opening 40-50 outlets by that time. We are set to open our first store by the end of this month," Troika Hospitality India Managing Partner Rajeev Chawla told PTI.

Troika Hospitality India LLP is the master franchisee of Kenny Rogers Roasters in India. Kenny Rogers Roasters brand is owned by Malaysia's Berjaya group.

On expansion, Chawla said: "We are looking at opening 8-10 restaurants by the end of calender year 2017 in north India. After that, we will expand to other parts of the country."

The brand's stores in India will be a combination of company-owned and franchised based.

Known for its chicken offerings, Kenny Rogers Roasters will also serve vegetarian food in India, he added.

At present, Kenny Rogers Roasters operates over 400 restaurants in 14 countries including the US, Singapore, Malaysia, China, and the Philippines.
