Vijayan left for Delhi along with state Ports Minister Kadanapally Ramachandran this evening.
Kerala has expressed concern over the decision saying it would adversely affect Vizhinjam port, the construction work of which has already begun here.
Colachel port is hardly 30 km from Vizhinjam and the issue had been taken up at the state assembly also.
The minister's office said the state would inform the Prime Minister about the need to protect the Rs 7,000 crore Vizhinjam port project, one of the most ambitious projects taken up by the government.
